soy una luchadora

It’s been a while, y’all! Hello to friends who are checking out this website after coming to see Luchadora! at Seattle Children’s Theatre! I truly had the time of my life learning real lucha libre, training with my cast, and getting to perform for so many students and families.

Here’s a recap of what I’ve been up to over the last year:

  • In late 2022/early 2023, I was the understudy for Cinderella in Cinderella at Village Theatre. This was my first musical since Light Princess in 2019 and it was such a delight to flex all those singing/dancing muscles again. I went on for one night after the show had transferred up to Everett, and safe to say that the musical theatre bug bit me all over again.

  • What would a year be without a Dice? Dice Keeper: Twelfth Night was the most ambitious and ridiculous version of the concept to date - you can read more about it and check out some photos in the Dice section of my actor page.

  • Over the summer, I finally got to do a Julia Izumi play! Sometimes The Rain, Sometimes The Sea played in an outdoor space on the UW campus and then transferred up to Port Townsend for a week.

  • Back in the musical theatre game, I closed out the year with Miss You Like Hell, a poignant story about the relationship between mothers and daughters - and about our country’s relationship with immigrants and immigration.

  • I started the year with a quick project over at Seattle Shakespeare Company. Henry V Bar(d) was a two-night only event where all the actors only had one rehearsal before doing the show for a live audience. To up the difficulty factor for myself, I volunteered to swap roles between performances. Over the two nights I played the Chorus, Grey, Court, and the Boy.

  • My job at The 5th Avenue Theatre has shifted, and while I’m still The Rising Star Project’s biggest fan, I have a new job title: Dramaturg and Curriculum Specialist. I’m working with the support of our Education and Engagement department to strengthen our existent educational offerings, expand our Career Day programming, and create content like our Inside the Musical Guides that enhance the audience understanding and experience of each of our mainstage shows.

Thanks for being with me on all these adventures. Up next, Dice: Midsummer Night’s Dream starts rehearsals in May. For the first time, we’re taking a full Dice run outdoors! See y’all out there!
